XNPC is a standalone FiveM NPC script that lets you place, dress, animate and manage static NPCs from an in-game menu. Pick one of 1,100+ ped models, give it one of 370+ animations, aim at the spot and confirm. The NPC is saved at once and every player sees it, with no restart, no database and no coordinates typed by hand.
The bartender behind the counter, the mechanic under the car, the guard at the gate, the doctor at reception, the crowd dancing in the club. An empty map feels dead and filling it by editing Lua tables takes hours. With this FiveM NPC script an admin does it while walking around the server, in a few clicks per NPC.
Why server owners pick this FiveM NPC script
- Standalone, for real. No framework, no database, no ox_lib, no other resource. It runs the same on ESX, QBCore, Qbox or a server with no framework at all.
- Everything in game. Create, edit, move, disable and delete NPCs from one menu. No config reload, no file editing, no server restart.
- What you see is what you save. A live preview ped stands in the world while you edit, framed by a camera you can orbit and zoom. Model, clothes and animation change in front of you.
- Placement by aiming. Walk to the spot, aim, turn the ped with the mouse wheel, raise or lower it, confirm. Then fine tune by 1, 5 or 25 cm.
- Light for your players. NPCs exist only near the player who can see them, and players who never open the menu load a 2 KB script and nothing else.
- Your data in plain files. Categories, NPCs and animations are readable JSON with automatic backup copies. Yours to edit, copy and move between servers.
Features
In-game NPC creator
- Open the menu with /xnpc or a key you bind in the GTA settings.
- Group NPCs into categories: one per zone, venue, job or event. Each category shows how many NPCs it holds.
- Give every NPC a name, a model, an animation and a position. Edit any of them later.
- Teleport to any NPC from the list: you land right in front of it, facing it.
- Disable an NPC with one click: it leaves the world for everyone and comes back with another click, exactly as it was.
- Up to 2,000 NPCs in 200 categories.
1,100+ ped models with a photo gallery
- 1,103 GTA V ped models sorted into 12 groups: ambient, gang, scenario, story, cutscene, multiplayer and animals.
- "View models" opens a gallery with the name of every model and a photo for most of them, with search and group filter.
- Hover a model and it appears live in the world next to the gallery. Click to pick it.
- Add-on peds supported: type the model name, or add it to the model list so it shows up in the menu.
Custom multiplayer peds
- Choose the multiplayer male or female and build a unique character: heritage, face, skin, hair, clothes and accessories.
- A built-in appearance editor works on the preview ped only. Your own character is never touched.
- Prefer the editor you already use? illenium-appearance, fivem-appearance and esx_skin are detected automatically.
- With an external editor your look is captured before the edit and restored after it, health and armour included.
370+ animations and scenarios
- 373 animations preinstalled in 16 groups: standing, sitting, leaning, lying, working, dancing, social, gestures, sport, guard, medical, phone and camera, eating and drinking, smoking, scared, animals.
- 120 GTA scenarios and 253 animation clips. Every human animation was checked in game on a male and a female ped.
- Scenarios that GTA plays only on male peds are labelled "(men only)", so you know before you pick.
- Play any animation on a copy of your ped before using it.
- Add your own: a scenario name, or an animation dictionary and clip. Test it, save it, use it on any NPC.
- Remove the ones you don't want and bring the defaults back whenever you like.
Precise placement
- "Place in world": walk around and aim. E confirms, Backspace cancels, the mouse wheel turns the ped, Shift + wheel changes its height.
- "Use my position" drops the NPC where you stand, facing the way you face.
- Fine tuning buttons move the NPC by 1, 5 or 25 cm, so it sits on the chair and not next to it.
- Placed NPCs stay where you put them: they can't be pushed, hurt, scared away or knocked down.
Instant sync, no restart
- Every change is written to disk the moment you make it and reaches all online players at once.
- Players who join later receive the current NPCs automatically.
- A backup copy of the last good save is kept next to each file and used if a file gets damaged.
- Edit the JSON files by hand if you want, then run xnpc_reload in the console. Entries with mistakes are skipped and kept aside, so nothing is lost.
Optimized for full servers
- NPCs are local peds, created by each client only within the spawn distance (60 m by default, configurable) and removed when the player walks away.
- One loop per client checks the nearby map cells once per second. With no NPCs on the server it stops completely.
- The whole client download is about half a megabyte. The menu code runs only for admins, the first time they open it.
- With the menu closed there are no timers and no rendering.
Safe by design
- The menu is protected by an ACE permission. Give it to a group or to a single player.
- The server checks the permission on every action, validates every value and rate limits requests: a player without the permission can't create or delete NPCs, even with a modified client.
- Clear console messages on start: what was loaded, and what to fix if the data folder isn't writable.

Frequently asked questions
Does this FiveM NPC script work with ESX, QBCore and Qbox?
Yes. XNPC is standalone and doesn't call any framework, so it runs on all of them and on servers with no framework.
Do I need a database?
No. NPCs are saved in JSON files inside the resource, with backup copies. There's no SQL to import.
Will hundreds of NPCs slow my server down?
NPCs aren't networked entities. Each client creates only the ones near its own player and removes them when the player leaves the area, so the cost depends on how many NPCs stand in one place, not on how many you placed across the map.
Can I use add-on and custom peds?
Yes. Type the model name in the editor, or add it to the model list to have it in the menu and in the gallery.
Can I add my own animations?
Yes. Add a scenario name or a dictionary and clip from the Animations tab, play it on a copy of your ped, and save it. It's then available for every NPC.
Do the NPCs walk around or sell items?
No. XNPC places static NPCs: they stand, sit, work or dance where you put them and make your map look alive. It doesn't add shops, dialogues or patrol routes.
Do I have to restart the server after placing an NPC?
No. Every change is live for all players the moment you confirm it.
